Lovely In Lace

8EAD8287-97C4-4E27-808C-6FC6E9EBFB8DHappy Monday! My hubby is starting week 3 of Ob/Gyn.  He has been working nights, so I have barely seen him this week. As hard as it is to not have a “normal” marriage right now, I am so thankful because Jake finally graduates in less than a year now! I know residency will not be all fun and games, but we’re both so ready for school to be over.

One of my favorite things I cannot get enough of lately is lace. I am constantly finding myself drawn to lace dresses. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed I’ve worn several lace dresses this spring. I wanted to do a round up and share my 3 favorite lace dresses I have bought this season. These are all still available and I LOVE them.

I bought this dress with no real event in mind to wear it to. On the day of my hubby’s med school formal, I made a last minute decision to wear it. It worked out perfect. The thing I love about it is that it’s so versatile. It can be dressed up or down. In the formal case, I dressed it up with dressy silver shoes and a clutch. I also wore it on a date night with nude block heels and pink tassel earrings.

It is perfect for a date night, cocktail party/ spring wedding, brunch, or a bridal shower. For a brunch or luncheon, I would suggest a little cardigan over the shoulder to make it a little more conservative. Also, I would recommend more of a sandal with a heel.

The best part about this dress is the straps are adjustable. I got a size small and it fit perfectly. This dress also comes in red and is gorgeous. Too bad I don’t have an event to wear it to 😉

I initially bought this one for my hubby’s formal, but changed my mind last minute. Here are more pictures of me wearing it in our Jord Watches blog post. It is the most dressy of the 3 and is just gorgeous. I love the halter details. It is perfect for spring weddings or a brunch with a cardigan. It is a midi length which is very in right now. I paired it with statement earrings and bow heels. This dress is true to size. This picture below shows the fit better.

This dress is one of my favorites. I love that it incorporates current trends with the pom pom and bell sleeve details. I did a full blog post on this dress here. I paired this dress with rock stud dupes and statement earrings. This dress also comes in black and is super cute. With this particular retailer, their items tend to run small. However, this item has a larger fit, so I went down a size. If you are taller, I would recommend staying with your typical size as it is a little on the short side.

I tried the Sonia V-Neck Sleeveless Block Lace Sheath Dress and loved it. It’s on sale now. (Excuse my selfie, but it’s too good to not share)

Dressing For A Cold/Rainy Spring Day

IMG_9340IMG_9329IMG_9330IMG_9332IMG_9334IMG_9335Happy Monday and Happy May! This weekend was just what I needed! We had crazy storms on Friday night and Saturday morning. This made our power go out, so we had to transfer all of our food into our Yeti coolers. It’s funny how things like this work out, since it inspired me to clean the expired food out of the fridge. I then got on a cleaning kick and organized various aspects of the house like our Tupperware containers (I’ve been putting that off). My hubby has his Pediatrics rotation shelf exam on Friday, and the weather forced us to stay in and be productive. The end of Pediatrics is coming at the perfect time, since we will be leaving Friday for my cousin’s wedding. We are excited for a little getaway!

Lately our weather has been more on the chilly side and we have had tons of storms. When it’s rainy, even if it’s not cold outside, I still get cold. Recently, on a rainy day I met some local bloggers for brunch.  I didn’t want to let the dreary weather get me down, so I wore a bright moto jacket to brighten my day.  I find the colors that I wear effect my mood. Since the jacket is very bright, I accessorized with a black top, as well as dark jeans and added leopard shoes and a statement necklace. Adding statement pieces like leopard and a big necklace can really dress up jeans.

Spring Weddings With Jord Watches

IMG_1191

Happy Friday! It’s time for the weekend! No pun indended 😉

It’s spring, so that means it’s wedding season. I always have my go to accessories and so does my hubby.  For a less formal wedding, he likes to wear a sport coat, a button up and khakis and now his new watch.

When it comes to watches, my hubby has a nice silver one that he wore for a while but he got bored of it and stopped wearing it. He had been wanting a new one, so when I asked him about this wood watch he was so excited. My hubby basically wears nothing but Brooks Brothers and Polo Ralph Lauren, so I was a little surprised he loved the natural look of the wood watch. Here’s what he had to say about the watch:

“I had always thought wood watches looked cool but I’m pretty cheap so I didn’t want to spend a decent amount of money on one and then end up not wanting to wear it very much. So, when I got the opportunity to try the Jord wood watch out, I leaped at the chance. Being a typical man, I’m not big into fashion, and I usually buy stuff based on either ‘that looks cool’ or ‘that looks like something Courtney would allow me to wear’. So anyways, not being a fashion expert, it’s kind of hard to put into words what I liked about the Jord watch, but I really enjoy it. Though they have several other styles that looked cool, I chose to go with this dark brown and red one. The dark sandalwood looks rather sophisticated; something about the way it looks as well as the sturdy feeling it has makes me feel like it came from an old, massive tree. The elegant color gives it a maturity that makes it look like the wood has been around for a hundred years, while the durable feeling of it makes it seem like it could last for a hundred more. The burgundy manages to blend in smooth with the sandalwood color while also popping out. Juxtaposing a dark color (like the sandalwood) with a color that is both light and dark (after all, burgundy is just bright red that they added some brown to I think) is a cool way to have both elements blend together while also popping out. I think this watch jumped out to me because I’m a big Maker’s Mark fan and the colors reminded me of that; the sandalwood looks like the oak barrels and the whiskey itself, while the burgundy is reminiscent of the red wax top. This reinforced the mature, understated elegance of the watch to me. Anyways, enough about the look of the watch. It also feels great and works great. Being in the hospital, I’m always doing something with my hands, whether it’s performing a physical exam or writing a patient note. Despite the sturdy feeling of the watch, it never feels cumbersome when you’re using your arms. Even after a long day, it still felt very comfortable. Overall, I think it’s a great watch, and my only regret is that I forgot to make sure I got a left-handed watch. Courtney and I are both lefties, and it seems like every day something like this happens to remind us it’s a right handed world. Anyways, other than me forgetting that like everybody else on earth is right handed, I highly recommend the Jord watch! I’ve never been a big watch guy, but now as I finally am close to being done with medical school and moving on to actually being a doctor, it’s important to have a professional, elegant look, and the Jord watch definitely fits that profile.”

We are excited to announce that we have partnered with Jord to give away a FREE Conway watch. Click here to enter.

Happy Monday! I cannot believe Easter is on Sunday. I made our brunch reservations last week at a restaurant called Cheever’s. If you ever visit OKC, I highly recommend it!  I am so excited to celebrate this holiday that is important to my Christian faith. I’m hoping that my hubby gets done with his weekend rounds early. You never know with his medical school schedule.

IMG_6961
This weekend, I took Friday off. It was seriously much needed to have an extra day off. My mom and I went shopping at North Park Mall in Dallas and we went to lunch at The Neiman Marcus Mermaid Bar, as is our tradition. I didn’t buy a whole lot, but it’s always fun to look! After a quick stop in Dallas, we woke up early and headed to Lake LBJ in Austin for my beautiful cousin’s couple’s shower. I am so excited that my baby cousin is getting married. Unfortunately, my hubby couldn’t come down (go figure). He had to work on Saturday for his pediatric rotation. It is hard to go to things like couple’s showers or parties without your man, but it’s the sacrifice we have made to ensure a successful future (with much more free time at that point!).

Since Easter is around the corner, I wanted to share what I will most likely be wearing. I bought this dress at SheIn and am obsessed with it. This dress can go from a wedding to Easter Sunday. I will be wearing a little navy trench coat on Sunday, since it looks like it might be chilly. For Easter, I would accessorize with different earrings, since these are more for a night look.

IMG_1051IMG_8549

This lace dress is gorgeous, so I wanted to let it be the focal point. I wore my hair half up to show off some gorgeous earrings and wore my favorite rock stud heels. They’re not Valentino’s, although I get asked that all the time. They’re great dupes! I accessorized with my favorite little bag.

What are you wearing for Easter?

Blushing In Cold Shoulders

IMG_1102Happy Monday and happy April, everyone! This weekend was MUCH needed. On Friday, I felt like I barely made it through the day because I was stressed and exhausted from work and keeping up with blogging/Instagram.

After work, I met up with a local Instablogger, Candace. We took pictures of each other in the downtown area and it was really fun. Our husbands are both over taking pictures of us, so it was perfect.

IMG_7764IMG_1103

On Saturday I woke up with a horrible migraine. I am so thankful to have a husband who is almost a doctor, as he was able to get me back to normal fast. He thinks it was a stress let-down migraine. I decided to get super organized and clean the house, so hopefully I won’t get so stressed next week. Later in the evening, we had friends in town, and we went to dinner and went out after. On Sunday, I slept in and then in the afternoon met two local bloggers for brunch and shopping at Nordstrom Rack. It was so much fun!

IMG_1095

One of my favorite trends this year is cold shoulders. While they don’t work for all situations such as at the office, they are so fun for the weekend. I got this dress at Target and I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. When she saw it, my mom was surprised the dress was from Target

This dress is flowy and very romantic. The dress was already a statement, so I paired it with some simple bow heels and simple jewelry.

Dressing For Chilly Spring Weather

IMG_1058IMG_1054Happy Hump Day, friends! So far this week hasn’t been too bad.  It is definitely an adjustment having my hubby back on a required rotation instead of the past month of elective rotations. We also keep having threats of severe weather and I feel like I have been putting off grocery shopping and things like that but then the weather doesn’t end up actually being bad. I guess that’s Oklahoma for you! I have been just kind of winging it for dinner, since I keep thinking if I grocery shop that I’ll get caught in a tornado.

IMG_1060IMG_1057

The transition from cold to warm weather is in full swing.  One day it is 80 here and the next it’s low 50’s and rainy. With all of this back and forth weather, I wanted to share a look that is warm, but works for early spring.

One of the trends that I cannot get enough this year is leather moto jackets. I seriously went from just having one leather jacket to now having a nice collection of 5. The thing I like about them is they’re light weight yet warm at the same time. When styling this outfit, I wanted to make this look have some spring elements, so I wore white jeans.

IMG_1055IMG_1053

Gingham is one of those prints that works all year, so I paired this look with a navy gingham blouse. I added a little pop of red to make this look a little more fun.

How is everyone’s week going so far?

Happy Monday! Is it just me or do weekends fly by, but the week crawls by? I guess the saying “time flies when you’re having fun” is true.

This weekend was super nice and much needed! On Friday, I met with Courtney of The Finishing Touch OKC and we took some pictures of each other. She is super sweet and I have a feeling we’re going to get along great. After I got home, my sweet hubby grilled steaks. It was nice to not be the one cooking for once.

IMG_1018IMG_1021

On Saturday, it was a pretty cold and dreary day, so we laid low. I cooked breakfast while my husband was asleep. It’s always nice when you literally have nothing to do. I ended up deciding we needed to get out of the house, so we got dressed up and headed to Midtown to try a new restaurant, Barrio’s. The food was good, but the atmosphere of this restaurant is what will keep me coming back. It is very uniquely decorated and I look forward to warm days that we can drink margs on their patio.

On Sunday we had threats of bad thunderstorms, so we just stayed at home and both got organized for the upcoming week.

IMG_1020IMG_1019

Recently I wore this red and navy floral A-line skirt to brunch and I loved this look. Do you ever have an outfit that you just feel so great in? Well, this is one of those for me. I felt so classy and ladylike all brunch.

I have had this skirt for years and it is one of those skirts that I always keep pulling out. There is something about an A-line skirt that just makes you feel so pretty. I think it is the flattering cut. The skirt had a lot going on with it, so I decided to pair it with simple accessories to let it be the focal point.

Dressing For A Rehearsal Dinner

IMG_7104IMG_1008

Happy Friday! I am so glad it’s the almost the weekend. This time last week, we were heading down to Dallas for a fun wedding weekend. Although it was amazing, we’re so excited to spend time at home.

Jake is in between rotations this weekend and will be starting Pediatrics on Monday. We will be taking advantage of him being free over the weekend, since free weekends will soon be rare again. He has had a full month of elective rotations, so we got a little spoiled with no weekend work. The weather looks nice tomorrow, so that always makes the weekend more fun. We don’t have any set plans, but I know we will do a date of some sort.

IMG_1009IMG_1007

I am meeting up with a blogger to start taking pictures together. I am also hoping to organize my closet and move the winter clothes to the top rack. My poor husband is getting exhausted being an Instagram husband taking most of my pictures, so I am working with other bloggers to take pictures of each other.  I’m excited to start working with them!IMG_7095

Now that it’s wedding season, you might be invited to a rehearsal dinner if you’re in the wedding party or are a close family member of the bride or groom. Most rehearsal dinners are not formal; they’re usually more cocktail attire. I determine what I am going to wear by the location of the dinner and I used the invitation as a guide.

IMG_7103

The one we recently went to was at a brewery. I was not really sure what to expect, so I played it safe with a little black dress. My rule of thumb is, it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed. I wanted to still look trendy, so I wore a cold shoulder dress. One of my favorite things about LBD’s is they’re like a blank canvas. I wanted to have fun with this look, so I wore a statement necklace, leopard pumps and my new pink bag.

Happy Monday everyone! This weekend was one for the books. We went down to Dallas for a wedding to celebrate the marriage of two of our college friends, Mitch and Taylor. Mitch was one of my husband’s fraternity brothers and was also a groomsman in our wedding. Jake was a groomsman in the wedding, so it was a busy weekend.

We both got to do half days on Friday so we could make it in time for the wedding rehearsal. We got stuck in traffic, but we made it just in time for the rehearsal and then the rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal dinner was at a brewery in Frisco and was a lot of fun. After the dinner, the father of the bride hosted a cocktail party at the hotel. It was nice to catch up with everyone!

IMG_0989IMG_7306

On Saturday, I woke up early and met one of my best friends, Molly, downtown. She got engaged around Christmas, so she set up an appointment at a local bridal salon to try on some gowns. She found two gorgeous dresses that she loved, so we will see what she ends up deciding on!

On the way out of town Sunday afternoon, we met my whole family for brunch. My parents, my brother and his family, and my grandparents all met us. It was so nice to see everyone, but kind of a tease since we had to get back to Oklahoma. I really hope someday we end up moving down to Dallas.

IMG_0986IMG_7206

In honor of today being the first official day of spring, I am sharing what I wore to a spring wedding this weekend. Spring also means it’s officially wedding season. We were kind of the first to get married out of our friends, but now we have a lot of friends getting engaged. This will be a fun time!

IMG_7171IMG_7169

This weekend I wore a gorgeous floral print Ted Baker dress. When deciding what to wear, it’s important to look at the invitation to get a feel for the “dressiness.” If you’re ever in doubt, you can always play it safe with a little black dress. I went with this vibrant floral pattern and black dress. I decided to play up the pattern by wearing this gorgeous hot pink Tory Burch bag. This bag can be worn as a short shoulder bag or crossbody; since it was a wedding I decided to go with on the shoulder for a more dressy look. I wore plain black shoes with a bow, so the dress could be the main focus.

Happy Monday! I can’t believe the weekend is already over; wasn’t it just Friday? Anyways, this weekend we went to Jake’s parents on Friday night. It is always nice to see his family! I feel super blessed to have a wonderful family and to have wonderful in-laws. We’re so truly blessed. Daylight savings time really got to us on Sunday morning, but I am excited about more light during the day.

IMG_6911IMG_6908

This Friday was pay day, which means we got to dress in casual Friday clothes. I wore this fun utility vest and gingham look since it was pretty chilly. One thing you need in your closet for spring is a utility vest. They’re warm, fun, and fashionable…what’s better than that?

To make this look a little more dressy for work, I wore a statement necklace and heel booties. It was still very casual, but it helped dress it up a bit. If it was a causal Friday where I had meetings with clients, I wouldn’t have worn this, but it was a day I knew I could dress casual.

What did everyone do this weekend?
