Happy Memorial Day! What is better than it being a Monday and not being at work? I am seriously so thankful for an extra day off, I have really needed it!

This weekend we went to Jake’s family reunion. It was definitely nice to catch up with his family. The best part was on Sunday when we got home, we were siting outside working on things and we were both so relaxed. Usually on Sunday evenings, it hits us that we have to go back to reality and we both get sad.

Anyways, I wanted to share one of my favorite looks that I wore recently to Mother’s Day brunch with Jake’s family. I paired a fun striped skirt with an off the shoulder bodysuit, statement earrings and gold wedges. This skirt does run big, so I recommend sizing down for a more fitted look. This exact skirt sold out, but is available in several other patterns. It is on a major sale right now. I have this skirt in several colors and I wear it all of the time to work. For a more professional fit, I wear my regular size. J. Crew Factory is having a major sale where everything is 50% off and I wanted to share my picks below. At last…we have made it to Friday! This weekend will be extra special since my hubby is in between rotations and will be on a straight month of two consecutive 2-week elective rotations. He will be doing Anesthesia, which right now is his main interest, and then Dermatology to see if he likes it. Neuro has honestly been the most miserable rotation, so I’m excited for brighter days ahead. It’s very fitting that Neuro is ending just as spring is about to begin!

Spring is around the corner and moto jackets are all the rage right now. When I was shopping not too long ago, I found this amazing moto jacket in powder blue. Moto jackets are very trendy, so I was excited to find this one for cheap. Powder blue is a color I don’t wear too often, but I like it. It is subtle and perfect for spring.

I paired this outfit with some cobalt blue accessories to add some brightness to the outfit. I also wore my new favorite white bell sleeve top. This would be another perfect casual Friday look. I’m excited to wear this little jacket with other pieces in my closet. The best part of this look was my nails matched my jacket and I didn’t do it on purpose. These bracelets are also 20% off with code LIFEOFAMEDSCHOOLWIFE.

What are you doing this weekend?

A Pop of Blush, The Pretty New Color For Spring

Because it’s Wednesday, and “on Wednesday we wear pink,” (Mean Girls is the best), I decided to wear this cute little blush fringe wrap. The wrap kept me warm and helped me feel put together.

I found this wrap at Target when I was supposed to be grocery shopping. The quality is very good and I am happy with the purchase. It comes in several neutral colors, but blush is the color of the season so I went for it. (The blush unfortunately is unavailable, but there is a gorgeous blue color available. I have also linked some very similar blush options.) Blush and fringe are two of my favorite things right now. I love blush because it gives you a pop of color, but is very understated. It’s a perfect spring color!

This wrap is the perfect way to transition from cold to warmer days. I wore mine with a long sleeve top since it was chilly, but it would work with short sleeves as the weather gets in the 60s. I also paired it with my favorite riding boots and a glam statement necklace. This necklace is sold out, but I have linked a very similar one. It’s a great addition to any outfit.

I got these boots about 5 years ago when I was in college and they have held up beautifully! I feel like I have got my money’s worth for them. This Friday is casual Friday, so this would be a perfect pick!

How is everyone’s week going so far?

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope everyone has had a nice week. I feel like this week has been a lot of go go go between being a wife, working and having an ear infection. My husband has been so busy with his current rotation (Neurology), so I feel like by the time he gets home I need to have dinner on the table, he studies for a few hours and is off to bed and up again at 4:30 a.m. I am thankful next week is his last week of this rotation. To be honest, this rotation has been the worst. On the bright side, this week actually went by pretty quickly.

The past couple days, we’ve had really pretty weather, so I am starting to get inspired with spring outfits. Luckily I just had my birthday, so I got a few new fun pieces for spring. I try to only incorporate a few new trendy pieces each season, since we’re on a budget.

When I saw this hot pink moto jacket, I am pretty sure my jaw dropped! I did a double take because the color is so eye catching. I just knew I had to have it because it’s the perfect Barbie lipstick pink color. Do you ever feel that way about something? I usually wait and think about my purchases, but ended up asking for it for my birthday.

Moto jackets are one of those trends I never thought I would like until I tried one on. I did size down for a tighter fit, since some seem to run larger. I think the pretty color also helped. These jackets are fun because they make a statement by adding a little edge. I wore this classic Lilly Pulitzer dress and these new fun drop earrings with mine. I feel like I will be wearing this jacket too much. It would be great with some neutrals or other prints.

What spring trends are you loving right now?

Casual Glam Date Night Look

img_0547img_1761img_1752Vest: Gianni Bini Top: Dillards- Soprano,Similar, Similar Jeans: Michael Kors- T.J. Maxx Necklace: Purple Peridot Shoes: Dillards

Hello friends! There is just one more day of this work week (thank goodness)! Jake just has one final standing between a fun birthday weekend. I am so excited to have a fun weekend, I can’t stand it. Weekends where Jake has zero studying are rare, so I live for these weekends.
We also FINALLY received fantastic news about Jake’s internal medicine clerkship grade. He earned an A! I’m so proud of him for getting straight A’s so far during 3rd year. That’s a huge deal!

Last weekend my sweet husband made time for a quick and casual date night. I wanted to dress up, but still be casual. I still get excited about date nights and want to dress to impress. I picked out one of my favorite black basic tees and paired it with some glam accessories to dress it up.

An easy way to take a plain outfit up a notch is accessories. Ladies, one thing you MUST have in your fall/winter wardrobe is a cute fur vest. Fur vests are everywhere, but I’ve noticed for my particular frame I like a more fitted fur vest. Most fur vests run pretty boxy, and that’s not flattering on me. It looks like I’m wearing a bear. I snatched this adorable Gianni Bini vest for 40% off at Dillard’s and it’s been a game charger. I sized down and it fits perfect. RUN to Dillard’s for this vest before it sells out.I also paired this outfit with these perfect Valentino dupes and this glam necklace. This necklace is from Purple Peridot, they’re a great resource for inexpensive trendy jewelry and accessories.

Channeling My Inner Blair Waldorf

img_0407img_0398

Cardigan: Kate Spade Skirt: J.Crew Factory Headband: Burberry

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Thank you for stopping by today! I wanted to say thank you for all of the encouragement after announcing my blog last night. I didn’t really plan to announce it yesterday, but I decided to bite the bullet. It’s a little nerve racking to put yourself out there, so I really do appreciate all of the kind words. It means the world to me.

The other day, I channeled my inner Blair Waldorf and wore this outfit above. My sweet husband, who has been taking my outfit pictures, even said “were you planning to dress like Blair Waldorf?” It made my day. I think it was the headband that screamed Blair.

Speaking of Gossip Girl, a little back story about why this show is so special to me. My husband, Jake is studying right now to be a physician. He is currently in his third year of medical school (MS3). Last year, during his second year he took the most important test of his life.. Step 1 (USMLE Step 1). Step 1 is the test that basically determines your life and will determine the residency program you end up in. Maybe when my husband is closer to matching into a residency, I’ll do a post on the process. During Jake’s Step 1 studying, I literally watched the whole Gossip Girl series again. Gossip Girl pretty much became my life. It’s my favorite show ever! If I could be anyone in the world, I would be Blair Waldorf. #obssessed After all of the Gossip Girl while my husband studied, we were both blown away when he received his Step 1 results. I can honestly say I’ve never seen someone work so hard. I have only the utmost respect for medical students and physicians. I don’t know how they do it.

Colorful Friday

Coat: Anthropologie Shoes: Jack Rogers

Happy Friday, loves! We were supposed to have a crazy ice storm today, but that never happened. The weather channels were acting like it would be the ice apocalypse. I am so happy I was able to go into work today, and not have to use my time off. My husband was very lucky today  and his attending physician told him not to worry about coming in. Thank you Dr. B! My husband, Jake  is currently on his family medicine rotation and is actually working with my family physician. It’s a really neat experience for him. Hopefully this extra studying will mean we can hangout more this weekend. Wishful thinking!

Anyways, today was Friday the 13th and was very dreary. This bright coat sure did brighten up my day. This coat is from Anthropologie and has been one of my favorites.  It’s one of those coats that I’ve always been excited to wear as it gets chilly.

Happy weekend! What do y’all have planned?
