Happy Thursday! Memorial Day is on Monday, so that means summer is basically around the corner.  It looks like the weather will be beautiful this weekend, so you better believe I will be dressed in all bright colors and tassels celebrating the long weekend.

I wanted to share a little Memorial Day inspiration. When I think of Memorial Day attire, I think festive summer wear like shorts, white jeans or sundresses. I also think bright colors. This outfit combines my favorite trends of the season: cold shoulders, ruffles, tassels and embroidery.

We are attending a family reunion on Saturday, so we will be casual. This could be a good option.

Dressing For A Cold/Rainy Spring Day

This made our power go out, so we had to transfer all of our food into our Yeti coolers. It’s funny how things like this work out, since it inspired me to clean the expired food out of the fridge. I then got on a cleaning kick and organized various aspects of the house like our Tupperware containers (I’ve been putting that off). My hubby has his Pediatrics rotation shelf exam on Friday, and the weather forced us to stay in and be productive. The end of Pediatrics is coming at the perfect time, since we will be leaving Friday for my cousin’s wedding. We are excited for a little getaway!

Lately our weather has been more on the chilly side and we have had tons of storms. When it’s rainy, even if it’s not cold outside, I still get cold. Recently, on a rainy day I met some local bloggers for brunch.  I didn’t want to let the dreary weather get me down, so I wore a bright moto jacket to brighten my day.  I find the colors that I wear effect my mood. Since the jacket is very bright, I accessorized with a black top, as well as dark jeans and added leopard shoes and a statement necklace. Adding statement pieces like leopard and a big necklace can really dress up jeans.

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone’s week is off to a good start! I don’t know about you, but this weekend flew by for us (they always seem to). On Friday, we went to my hubby’s med school ball and just relaxed the rest of the weekend. He only has 8 more weeks until he starts his 4th year of med school. We are both so ready!

You may have noticed that I am not doing as many blog posts as normal. I am trying to work on a new way to switch things up and maybe drop down to two blog posts weekly instead of three. I am very overwhelmed between blogging and working full-time, so this should help.

IMG_9022IMG_1206One trend I am obsessed with is embroidery.  It’s all about embroidery for summer and spring. It is everywhere from jeans to dresses. I am so glad it’s back because it reminds me of my childhood. I will never forget this little embroidered denim jacket that I had and some jeans with pink flowers. I probably still have them at my parents house.

The thing that I love about embroidery is that it incorporates so many fun colors. Bright colors make me happy, so I jumped on board with this trend quick. It reminds me of a fiesta!IMG_1205

When I wear something embroidered, I like to accessorize with colors that are in the embroidery pattern. Recently we had beautiful weather on a date night, so I decided to wear my new skirt. I decided to play up the pink and tone it down with this black ruffle bodysuit (I promise I don’t wear it everyday).  FYI, this skirt runs small, so I recommend sizing up. I also recommend wearing a bodysuit with it, since it lays better with the skirt.

Happy Hump Day! My hubby started his Anesthesia elective rotation on Monday and it’s been a change of pace from his normal rotations. He’s loving it! Elective rotations don’t have letter grades, so he hasn’t had to do a lot of studying. He’s been extra helpful around the house, which is much appreciated. It’s nice to have a little help every once in a while. Also, he just found out that he got an A on his Neurology rotation. That’s 5 As so far this year. I’m so happy for him and proud of him!img_4262


It’s officially March, so that means the first day of spring is in 20 days. I may have jumped the gun a little with this outfit, but recently we had a day where the weather was in the high 70’s, so we went to meet up with some friends on a patio and I wanted to dress for the weather.img_4242img_4267

I decided to break the whole you can’t wear white until Easter rule. I wore this fun long sleeve black floral off the shoulder top that I found recently found. Although it is not technically spring yet, I thought the black made it a little more transitional. Off the shoulder tops/ dresses are everywhere this year and are a trend I’m loving. This top does run large, I sized down for a more fitted look. I decided to pair the look with pops of pink, since that was in the floral pattern. I wore pink statement earrings, a pink bracelet, and my new pink purse.img_4255

Happy Friday, everyone! I hope everyone has had a nice week. I feel like this week has been a lot of go go go between being a wife, working and having an ear infection. My husband has been so busy with his current rotation (Neurology), so I feel like by the time he gets home I need to have dinner on the table, he studies for a few hours and is off to bed and up again at 4:30 a.m. I am thankful next week is his last week of this rotation. To be honest, this rotation has been the worst. On the bright side, this week actually went by pretty quickly.

The past couple days, we’ve had really pretty weather, so I am starting to get inspired with spring outfits. Luckily I just had my birthday, so I got a few new fun pieces for spring. I try to only incorporate a few new trendy pieces each season, since we’re on a budget.

When I saw this hot pink moto jacket, I am pretty sure my jaw dropped! I did a double take because the color is so eye catching. I just knew I had to have it because it’s the perfect Barbie lipstick pink color. Do you ever feel that way about something? I usually wait and think about my purchases, but ended up asking for it for my birthday.

Moto jackets are one of those trends I never thought I would like until I tried one on. I did size down for a tighter fit, since some seem to run larger. I think the pretty color also helped. These jackets are fun because they make a statement by adding a little edge. I wore this classic Lilly Pulitzer dress and these new fun drop earrings with mine. I feel like I will be wearing this jacket too much. It would be great with some neutrals or other prints.

Valentine’s Day Outfit Recap

284c5e32-158f-440d-9b58-c041632a5b54Tomorrow is the big day and, if you’re anything like my husband and I, you’re probably not doing any thing fancy. In fact, we did our celebrating over the weekend because my hubby is too busy to go out on a Tuesday. Jake is on his second to last week of his Neurology rotation, so it’s time to study hard for the final. Our plan is to stay in and I will be making dinner.

Usually Jake wants me to pick the date, but over the weekend the OKC Thunder was playing the Golden State Warriors. If you’re not familiar with basketball (I know I’m not), Kevin Durant used to play for The Thunder and left to play for Golden State. This is his first game back in OKC not being a Thunder player, so it was a very tense game. Unfortunately we lost, but it was still a fun night.

Okay friends…Valentine’s Day is officially less than a week away. Are you looking for a “different” Valentine’s Day look? If that’s the case, I have you covered! This weekend when my parents came up to celebrate my birthday, I wore a leopard coat and a little black dress with pink accessories, and I had so much fun with it.

Right now one of the huge trends is the cold shoulder. I found this dress at the Dillard’s New Year Day sale for basically nothing! It has sold out of Dillard’s, but I found the same dress online. The cold shoulder look is “sexy” without being inappropriate.

It was cold at night this weekend, so I paired my LBD with a fun leopard statement coat. Although this coat is not available anymore, I have a similar one linked that is just as cute. One thing I did with this outfit, that for some reason I rarely do, is mix different shades of pink. If you saw my last post, you may have seen I just got this rose quartz necklace for my birthday. I had already planned to wear my fun new hot pink shoes, so I thought what the heck I’ll just wear it all together. I ended up really liking the mixing of two shades of the same color.

Hello Friends! Today is my BIRTHDAY! After 21, birthdays just are not that exciting to me. I’m another year closer to 30, but I’m also one year closer to being married to a doctor. This is my last birthday that Jake will not be a doctor. My husband was on call last night, so I’m extra thankful he’s off at regular hours today. I’m excited for a quick little birthday date tonight (hopefully).

Lately I have noticed that I cannot get enough red and pink. I think it’s the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday that has me feeling festive! I always love to dress for the season. This outfit would be another great option for Valentine’s Day. A pop of pink is always a good idea in my book! It’s easy, chic and girly. What’s better than that?

The other day I wanted to wear something that was festive. I found this cute hot pink chiffon maxi skirt from a few years ago in my closet. When I was looking in my closet, the pink drew me in. I built the outfit based on the skirt. I paired this skirt with a beaded crop top. This outfit was easy to throw together, since it didn’t require many accessories. This beaded crop top creates a statement with the pop of pink.

I always keep a wish list board on my Pinterest account to help my husband pick out gifts for me or to keep track of what I would like to purchase for myself. Being a med school wife, I have to pick and choose my purchases carefully. I like keeping a wish list to manage what I am eyeing each season, so I can really decide what I cannot live with out.

I know this might seem a little tacky to have a wish list  for my husband to see, but honestly he thanked me recently for it. He said I am hard to buy for, so he loves knowing what I genuinely want.

  1. Prada Mini Saffiano Promenade Bag, Pink (Peonia) :$1,130. This is a little on the pricey side, but OMG how gorgeous is this? I like to think of Louis, Prada, Gucci, etc as an investment 😉 These are handbags that you will have and love forever. The craftsmanship is wonderful and styles are truly classic.
  2. Sonix Cora iPhone Case: iPhone 6 iPhone 7 : $35. This iPhone case is too cute. I have had a Sonix case for over two years and it has held up beautifully. I highly recommend this brand for their quality and great designs.
  3. Kate Spade New Pearl Place Rose Bowl : $75. I have been eyeing this gorgeous vase for a long time. I mean the gold polka dot details, how fabulous is this? This would be a PERFECT gift to go along a beautiful Valentine’s Day bouquet.
  4. BaubleBar Fluoro Crispin Drops : $48. These earrings come in several colors. The fuchsia would be perfect as a Valentine’s Day fit. I have had my eyes on these for a few weeks.
  5.  Lisi Lerch Tassel Earring: $98. Shown in cotton candy. Where do I even begin? Lisi Lerch has some of the most GORGEOUS jewelry. Tassels have been in for a while and are something I can’t get enough of. These earrings are just beautiful. Can I have these in every color, please?
  6. Lilly Pulitzer, Limonada Cashmere Wrap,  $198. Shown in dragon fruit. Lilly Pulitzer is one of those brands that is the epitome of a southern lady. Growing up, my home town had a Lilly P. store and it was always one of my favorite brands. This wrap is so classic and incorporates the tassel trend.  I always feel confident purchasing Lilly because I know years to come I will still love it. Its so bright, classy and girly. What is better than that?
  7. Kendra Scott Harlow Statement Necklace:$195.Shown in rose quartz. Kendra Scott has been one of my go to jewelry brands for a few years. I have the Harlow statement necklace in hot pink and turquoise. I have love love loved this gorgeous necklace! One of the big colors this season is light pink, so I am very tempted to purchase this necklace with my upcoming birthday discount.
  8. Charles by Charles David Peyton Pump: $49.94. I recently purchased these beauties as a gift for my self and when they arrived they were even better than pictured. Charles David is one of those shoe brands that holds up well and has great designs. I cannot wait to wear these shoes when I’m craving a pop of pink.
  9.  Tory Burch Ivy Leopard Cross-Body: on sale for $346.50. Okay friends, this is a non-traditional V-Day gift being leopard, but hey, leopard is always a good idea. Also, I had been eyeing this bag since around Christmas time and it’s finally on sale. I might have to snatch it up before it’s gone. Its a great price for Tory.
  10.  BCBGeneration Darron Two-Toned Patent Pump $69.95. These red pumps are absolutely gorgeous and perfect for Valentine’s Day. I actually ordered these the other day and they just came. I’m in love! I also recommend Auturo Chiang Gracen Pointy Toe Studded Pump : $89.99. This is a similar look. I have these heels in adobe and they’re the perfect way to dress up an outfit. Plus these shoes are very comfortable. They are a great Valentino dupe for about 1/10th of the price. I have been been asked if they were Valentino.
  11.  Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eye Shadow Palette: $42.I can honestly say that this is my favorite eye shadow palette I’ve ever had. When I first looked at it, I had no plans to buy it. It’s different than my normal pink and gold tones, but the make up artist told me I had to have it so I gave it a chance. This palette is amazing; it blends well and has gorgeous colors. This palette frequently sells out, so if you don’t have it, you need it.
  12.  Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon: $25. In case you didn’t know, I am a little bit of a wino. I specifically cannot get enough Cab Sauv. Being a 20-something med school wife, I cannot always afford to splurge on a bottle of expensive wine. I mean, I love to shop…..priorities, right? Thank you to my wonderful big brother for introducing me to Decoy. This wine is so smooth and worth every penny.
  13. Absolutely Beautiful Things By: Anna Spiro, also sold here :Best price $21.42. Recently I ordered this gorgeous West Elm coffee table when it when on major sale. Once the coffee table arrived, for the week I received shipments of coffee table books every day. After a while my husband, said “Can you please stop ordering coffee table books?” Basically, I am addicted to coffee table books. Don’t worry, I returned about half of my orders. I was just looking for the perfect ones. This book is a little on the girly side, but OMG its so gorgeous. It’s definitely on my wish list.
  14.  Classic Monogram Necklace, Love Always by Stephanie Diaz Base price $100. I ordered this monogram necklace about a year ago and have loved it. When I need to add a little something to an outfit, it’s perfect.  Mine is size extra large and chain length 16″. As Reese Witherspoon once said, “My sheets are monogrammed, so is my silverware and pretty much everything else I own. My rule is, if it’s not moving — monogram it!” Being a southern girl, I feel the same way.
  15.  Red Quilted Double Wall Traveler Starbucks Mug: On Sale $13.79. I received this traveler mug for Christmas from my wonderful mother-in-law. She is seriously the best at giving gifts. I have always been obsessed with Starbuck’s mugs, since they keep the beverage warm or cold for so long. This mug is no different and the gold and quilted details are perfect for any girly girl.
  16.  Tory Burch Fleming Snake Convertible Shoulder Bag: This gorgeous hot pink bag comes in two sizes: small $495 or larger size $550. I would recommend the smaller for an evening look and the large for an everyday look. I have been eyeing this bag for a while.
  17.  Capri Blue Iridescent Jar Candle in Volcano $28. A Carpi Blue candle is the perfect gift for any occasion. I have this in the blue color and have loved it. The smell is so refreshing and it looks beautiful too.
  18. Jon Hart Grande $43 with monogram. When I got engaged, this make up bag was the first thing I purchased with my new initials. I have always been a huge Jon Hart fan. Their products are not only beautiful, but they’re also always well made. This bag will fit in any large handbag and matches my weekender bag perfectly.  This is perfect for traveling, since it will fit all of my make up in it.
