Jake and I are in a season of our lives where our friends are starting to get married and some are starting to have babies. We got married one year after college and were pretty much the first of our friends to do so. This past weekend, I attended one of my best friends’, Nicole, bridal shower. I thought it would be fun to share what I wore as a guest of a bridal shower and also share my Sunday brunch outfit that would be perfect for a baby shower.
When I selected my outfit, I wore bright colors because the bride-to-be loves color. When it comes to bridal shower attire, I think feminine attire is the best. Bridal showers are usually all ladies, so the girlier the better.
Here are a few tips to select an outfit:
Save the all white for the bride: This is the bride’s event and, when it comes to any wedding event, I do not recommend wearing all white. This is the time for the bride-to-be to be the center of attention, so let her stand out in that little white dress if she chooses to do so.
Bright Colors: Bright colors are perfect for a bridal shower. I love to wear colors and bright patterns.
Dress girly: This is a ladies’ event, so I like to wear my girliest outfit I own. I think lace, florals and pearls when I think of a bridal shower. Lilly Pulitzer is one of my go to brands because their patterns scream girly. This is not a time to be sexy, save that for a date night. I usually opt for midi skirts, maxi skirts or sundresses.
Wear your Sunday best: If it works for church, it will definitely work for a shower. I think cardigans are perfect for showers because they help make your outfit a little “ladies who lunch.”
The dress I wore to Nicole’s shower is from last year (shout out to my mom for letting me borrow it), so make sure to check the end of this post for some outfits I think would be perfect for now and a few for fall.
Although I do not have any good friends who are currently pregnant, I wore this outfit to brunch on Sunday and thought it would be perfect for a baby shower. It would definitely work for a bridal shower too. Baby shower attire is pretty much the same as a wedding shower, except the wearing white rule does not apply.
